Information about ERASMUS+

Erasmus LogoWith a total budget of approx. 26.2 billion EUR, the EU education programme ERASMUS+ is funded for the project period from 2021 to 2027. 70% of this budget will directly support mobilities which are the key part of the programme. Up to 2020,  more than 9 million people have benefitted from the EU funds. The programme covers the areas of education and training, youth and sport and is designed to improve skills and employability and to advance the modernization of education systems. With new additional funding options for digital programmes or in the areas of inclusion and diversity and green efforts, ERASMUS+ takes current social developments into account. The programme has three key actions:

  • Key action 1: Learning mobility for individuals,
  • Key action 2: Partnerships and cooperation projects,
  • Key action 3: Support for policy reform processes.

 

The university programme ERASMUS, one of the great success stories of the European Union, has been promoting international mobility of students, university lecturers and university staff in Europe since 1987. At the 30 year anniversary of ERASMUS+ in 2017, some 4.4 million students and nearly 250,000 lecturers have spent time abroad under this programme.

The 27 EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, FYR Macedonia, Norway and Turkey participate in ERASMUS.
